Dirtphalt 2017

Yes its back!
Mark your calendar for the weekend of October 6-8 for great country riding on a mix of dirt and pavement, and spending quality time with good friends.
Central NY, Otsego County (Cooperstown area).
We are always thrilled to have new riders join us too so don't be shy.

For the uninitiated can you fill us in on some of the Dirtphault details?
I've read through some of the posts from years past but this is the first year I may be able to make it. Looks like three days of riding. What do you usually do as far as milage, pace and terrain (Yes I know it's dirt/gravel but any mtn type sections or generally road)?

We usually do a road bicycle ride Friday evening, say about 25 miles, and then go out for dinner.
Saturday and Sunday morning figure 3 or 4 hours of mixed surface riding: About 50% pavement, 50% dirt and packed clay roads. There are a few rougher stretches but I would not bring a mountain bike.
I rode a good selection of our roads today on 700X35 Conti Speed Kings, as I usually do, and there was nothing that even challenged my abilities on those tires.
We do have endlessly undulating hills here, so the mileage of the rides will not impress anyone but after 3-4 hours of it, and then a big BBQ with great food and beer, I would say people sleep well that night.
Come join us.

Every year I am surprised that 100 people don't show up for this ride. Typically rider head count doesn't make it to double digits. This ride must be one of the best kept secrets of the forum.

It's almost time.
We did a dirt ride today on the Dirtphalt roads with BBDave and some pals.....a gorgeous fall day here, with great dirt road riding.
Looking forward to next month.

For those interested you may want to book a room now. We planned to stay in our camper. I called a couple campgrounds and they are sold out for the weekend. We will be staying at the Bayside Inn and Marina again instead.

Hey All, No that my key west trip has been postponed I am hoping to make it to cooperstown for the weekend rides/festivities. If I stay by the lake area how far away do the rides generally begin? Thanks phin.

The main focus of activity is on the shore of Canadarago Lake.
None of the potential ride start points are more than 20 minutes from Cooperstown.
Looking forward to you joining us. Let me know if any other questions.
I will have the full plan with ride start points and times out in another week or so.

Thanks CNY & PaMtb riders, I will look into booking at the bayside marina as well, looks better than your average roadside motel 6.
