Thanks for all the input. I will have to check my schedule but I will more than likely be signing up. I was considering the 160k but might just do the 100k for my first go at this kind of course. Do you guys run cross tires or something more like a gravel king or gatorskin type tire for these types of events? I may have to take a drive to check out the course before the event to get a good perspective of what I should be using for this type of ride. Thinking of either my rapid tour or even my old st500 cannondale for the gearing I may need and the extra bottle holders.

Rapid Tour would be swell with some Clement MSO's beneath you.

no need for extra bottle holders. I never used more than 1 of my bottles, there are a lot of stop points with water, gatorate and energy snacks/fruit.

for tires, its hard to say as there are people have have done it on 25s but I would not do it in anything under a 32mm but that is just me.

hill pal, go for it!

just remember this is a ride, not a race. You can go as fast or as slow as you like. stop whenever, take lots of pictures along the way, smell the roses, check out the goats...soak up everything that makes this such a special ride.

http://forums.thepaceline.net/showthread.php?t=135104

A couple of shots by BBDave pal.

...and the rest stops are well-stocked so food is not a problem.

First and only time I did it, I went for the 100km which was plenty for a first-timer to get the full experience of D2R2. My tire of choice was Panaracer Pasela 35mm, it was fine. Don't overthink on the equipment, this is not RAAM. I took my own sweet time, started at 8, didn't get back to the finish line till like 4 or 5, I mean who cares, what's the hurry...well, luckily they still have food left at the tent.

I have some pasela 32s that will more than likely get the nod for it. It definitely sounds great and will actually be my first organized ride. I do all my riding solo these days but it will be nice to have some company along the way.

180k as always. 11th time for me.
Always among the top 10 rides of the year.

Sandy got me on to the cyclone mk2 derailleur - got to support a fellow suntour fan and an overall great event.

I'm in for the 115k . . .

Just registered. Also bought a raffle ticket for the custom Firefly raffle.

Now to go sacrifice some goats and chickens on that Satanic altar in my basement. I'd really like a new Firefly!

Registered as well.

I will be volunteering this year helping direct campers, same as last year with friend and fellow forum member Bertleman. Say high to the guys telling you where to park Friday night!

Signed up for the 180 but might end up doing the 100 again. Before D2R2 last year my longest ride was ~30 miles so the 100 was enough of a challenge for me. Hoping to have more miles under me going into this year's ride.

I'll likely be on the same setup as last year: 50/34 x 13-29 with 35mm tires.

Dave pal, may I suggest a more appropriate venue to conduct your ritual? How 'bout Mount Carmel?

Got this in the mail a day or two again. I will be arriving a couple days earlier to go riding and explore the area with angry and Dave pal and then helping with signing folks in and giving them their packets on Friday from 4 to 9 pm. So if you are part of this community, please do come forward and say "hi", I would love to meet you in person.

I can't wait. One of those events cool enough to look forward to all year. They do such a fantastic job of having a big event but maintaining the vibe of a small group ride with friends.

D2R2 2016, Reg. is OPEN!

Here's my friend Mathew confirming acquisition of all-important pre-ride-Rapha-juice (aka, free Rapha supplied espresso).

And location location location. I mean, what a lovely spot to stop for refreshments.
