just remember this is a ride, not a race. You can go as fast or as slow as you like. stop whenever, take lots of pictures along the way, smell the roses, check out the goats...soak up everything that makes this such a special ride.

A couple of shots by BBDave pal.

...and the rest stops are well-stocked so food is not a problem.

First and only time I did it, I went for the 100km which was plenty for a first-timer to get the full experience of D2R2. My tire of choice was Panaracer Pasela 35mm, it was fine. Don't overthink on the equipment, this is not RAAM. I took my own sweet time, started at 8, didn't get back to the finish line till like 4 or 5, I mean who cares, what's the hurry...well, luckily they still have food left at the tent.

You must be from the city or well spent from the ride. Doesn't look like goats to me.

So I just read thru the entire posting of this ride. Looks like an amazing ride. Count me in for next year(23018). My only question with 1000 some riders in the ride how messed up is the beginning of the ride(say 160) on the hilly techy sections of riders getting in your way/line on the climbs?

Thanks
Zman

While it may be called a "mass start" it's not really a mass start for each distance. Those are sort of recommended start times so that you'll finish in time to enjoy the food and still have plenty of daylight left.

Do not envision mobs of people on the road, or on the dirt climbs. Really; once you hit the dirt you wouldn't even know it's an event, it's that spread out.
