Davis Double, May 20

Who's doing the Davis Double this year? I'm stoked, it's my first double century!

Sadly will be out of town this year, but rode it last year with a close friend and had a blast. Super well-run event, the scenery was incredible, and the gravel section was a nice twist.

Have fun!

Davis Ride Report

It was a hot one this year...started at 5am and finished 8:35pm. Temps up above a hundred on Resurrection after lunch in Lake County. Had to stop to cool down on some of the climbs. My buddy Stanley has video of the davis double century here: youtube.com/watch?v=JkHeyxlOZfI He finished like 15 minutes ahead of me... 2 double finishes in 2 weeks with Central Coast in Paso Robles the previous week...

welcome to the club!

my first Davis was in 1990
moved back in 2002
did it every year until 2014
2015 truck stopped my streak
my pal Eric has done it 37 times!
it can be addicting-- but pricey, too

Great Western Bike Rally Paso Robles Memorial Day Weekend

Going down for some easy riding and some r&r down in Paso Robles at the Great Western Bike Rally to cap off the month after finishing 1 century & 2 doubles. Great area for riding in the Central Coast area...though the coast is blocked around Big Sur. Having some good food and drink...

Definitely a bit too hot after lunch. I think everybody probably felt pretty gross climbing Resurrection. Thank god for a tube sock filled with ice around the neck. Still, it was a good time with some really cool roads. I was on the road at 4:50 and finished by 6:45, so that felt really good.

I did 2016 as a reunion. Grew up in Davis, so did it in high school. 84-86. Coming back was fun, but the climbs were smaller than I remember! LOL. Was disappointed by some small things like the first few aide stations. I hate whose water, and their multiple bottle fill stations made all the water taste like that. Even worse was the secon station 40ish miles in at the fire station not even having any water at all. Still fun for the memorie.
