Edge 510 help

Hello, I read a little here and other places online, but I am not sure I found a solution.

I have an edge 510 that I used for 1-2 years, and I usually enjoyed it quite well. It had the typical garmin issues from time to time, like a software update that would delete user screen info, or a glitch where it froze and lost data. Other than that, not really much problems at all.

two weeks ago, I sold it here on the forum. I wiped the data clean, and did a factory reset. The buyer contacts me and tells me there is a backlight problem, and that the units while entered in imperial still show metric when entering height, weight, etc. I wasn't happy because I never had this problem, but I wanted a good rep, so I returned the money.

I got the unit back yesterday, and sure enough, the backlight goes off after a few second even in "always on" mode, and after selecting Imperial units, I am still asked to give my height and weight in metric.

I did another reset, hooked it up with garmin express, etc, and still the same.

Any thoughts? I already upgraded to a 520 and would like to recover part of my investment. Also, any idea what it would be worth if these issues aren't fixed? Most functionality is still there.

Thanks

There is a setting for the back light duration.

Thanks, but I had it in the backlight, "always on" mode, and still wouldn't stay on

You could try copying all the files off to your computer and then doing a low level reformat of the 510 with Windows, then copying the files back.

Reload the firmware to an older revision, then update it to the latest.

You have to install Garmin Express. It's been a while so I don't remember the exact procedure.
