I noticed the same trend with defeet (though their arm warmers are still awesome) so I picked up a few pairs of SockGuy wool at an LBS. Good stuff. Their SGX/coolmax is also a light and durable summer sock for me.

I have lived in the aireator and classico for the last decade. Most of them have lasted that long as well. I can't find the long length classico anymore either. I wear cargo shorts and Keen H2 sandals year round and during the winter months as long as my calves are warm I'm good. This is a bummer if I have to find a new favorite brand.

gloves

How about Defeet gloves?

They used to be my go to. Last 2 pairs that I bought fit terribly. Size medium- fingers were like an inch too long.

Still use them every day. Wool or whatever their not-wool is. Fit is fine, but I did buy them several years ago.

Darn Tough. By a mile. Better than SwiftWick and all the other brands. Whatever they do, they feel better, they stay together, they don't wear out, and they have some great colors and patterns as well. The best act in socks these days.

Id stay away from Smart Wool. I have a pair that came apart at the seam during the first wearing. When i contacted cs I was told to return them to the store i bought them from with a recipt for exchange. The issue is these were part of a gift that was sent so there was no recipt. Go with Darn Tough.

I sure have only experienced top notch Defeet quality product myself. I do know some people who have also contacted their customer service with stellar results. I'm pretty sure if you have something you bought at a shop, online, or from any known Defeet retailer the company will take care of you and make any product issue right. Worth a shot if you feel something is not living up to the cost you paid...

Easily the best. I love them even at full pop.

+1 for Darn Tough. I wish I could share how well their guarantee works, but I can't wear a pair out!

Another vote for SwiftWick. I received a pair as a gift and am surprised on fit/non-wear. SierraTrading now only had medium...I'm late to the party.

Another brand I like, wears like iron, and has different styles is Balega. I like the Enduro V-Tech Quarter socks. https://www.balega.com/our-product/enduro

I got a couple pairs of these for Xmas and am looking forward to wearing them (too thin for present weather). IME the boat has sailed on Smartwool.

joey pal, if it makes you feel any better, they have mediums as the only option right from the start...even the first batch that I bought back in 5/6/2016. I went back and looked at my email confirmation.
