Totally, but we have a century of evidence that dope is inextricably tied up in the sport. At least dopers are pedaling their own bikes. More than I can say for the electric assist crowd.

If you violate the rules, you are a cheater. There is not grey area. Doping is but one form of cheating.

it's funny, had to think a while before I remembered who he was. And is girlfriend also got caught doping when he was banned.

I feel that motors are more of a betrayal of the sport than doping. Of course, I also feel like doping is ruining the sport, just much more slowly. If I knew that some of the epic performances were because the team managed to hide a motor, then I would stop watching at all starting tomorrow.

The fact that some teams seem to be better at doping than everyone else is problematic. Racing this year was pretty boring, I think.

Sanctioned doping would be extremely dangerous to riders because they would be pressured to take more and more health risks to keep up. It would be a level playing field that would keep rising until someone stroked out on a climb.

Ricco's big crime was being too honest. When everyone else is caught they make a phony apology. It was just to recover from injury, they gave in to temptation, they made a mistake, they're so sorry for letting down their fans, etc. Ricco was unapologetic and basically said, "You caught me. I was doping. So what?"

Even today, after everything that has come out, there are fans who still cannot accept Ricco telling it how it is. Sad.
