I'd go in the opposite direction and likely try and hunt down an old Herse or Singer. Something about those constructeur bicycles has always spoken to me.

Used BMW G65GS
6k is too much for a bicycle.
Or like so many others have said, a nice 3k bike and a sweet trip to vegas for riding and hookers and blow.

I probably would buy 2 3k bikes instead (used of course).

but if I must really spend 6k on one, I would have Rob English build me a gravel bike. Then campy EPS, Hydro.

I’m thinking about an Allied Alpha. https://alliedcycleworks.com/allied-alfa/

It’s available in the $6k range, but I really want eTap, which bumps the cost up.

I suppose I'd break down and get something carbon.

id take and give money to local frame builder -jeffrey bock's frame building class. build my own, then baller wheels then pay for kid daycare to ride the F out it. fillet brazed midreach all road bike. thats just me tho I have a soft spot for fat tire road bikes. and a yearning to see how its done by one of the greats. Education included not just forking over cash.

My comment was self-deprecating..

I'm actually more interested in N=1 as far as my true road bike goes. And if that means one $6K road bike, so be it.

For me, that's modern high-end titanium, don't really care about discs or overly fat tires since it'd be for riding when the weather and roads are appropriate for riding fast on the road.

For a gravel, crappy roads, and/or wet-weather bike, I have a hard time justifying anything other than well-built steel rig with discs (might be a MUSA BMC monstercross a guy has locally in my size). And I don't think you need $6K to get close to perfection there.

I still run 23's. Had them on my Exemplar at NAHBS. I was told that was the reason i didn't win with that bike for a particular award. Cause the trend is 28's. I don't run 25's or 28's tho.
