Carbon bikes are not necessarily weightweenie only. Carbon is about performance. Every bike is about performance and the specs of that Jamis is not the best performance for every situation, every rider.
You say it´s about a magic connection between rider and bike as if there is no reason or rationality behind what we say is a good bike.
I won´t even go to looks, paint and overall aesthethic balance.
It´s your thread and i mean no disrespect. It´s cool you love your new bike.
colker pal, no disrespect at all, in fact, thanks for showing restraint. I actually agree with what you wrote. And I apologize if I over-simplify or dumb things down too much. I would also concede that I don't know a lot of the "technical aspects" behind how things work on a bike (nor am I really that interested if I am being honest). I just know how I feel when I am riding one that I like. That's all I am saying really. Again, please forgive my ignorance, I really don't want to claim to know more than I do. I just want to enjoy riding a bike and others to do the same.

I was going to respond to the previous comment regarding performance...had a nice 2-paragraph comment (which even included an Einstein quote) but figured why add drama. In the end, 'performance' is relative to the rider.

Love the new bike...it looks like a respray project where they got a little heavy in the paint department. Very well could be a Jamis Quest, note that the Quest had a horizontal top tube until 2007 (or so) and sometime around there Jamis started using their own design/branded carbon forks. I did some looking at bikepedia, but there's many different models from different years that I wasn't able to narrow yours down based on the paint scheme on the fork. You could probably spend a little more time there and track it down.
Also, the Satellite models have the descending top tube, but the angles aren't as steep, IIRC. If you find the rear a little on the springy/comfort side, then my guess is a Quest. I have a Satellite with 520 main tubes and 4130 tubes everywhere else and the rear end rides like a rock. Granted, it has Axis 2.0 wheels and gatorskins, but that bike is built to be 'bulletproof.'

Thanks for the leads and the extra information, Joseph pal.

How did you know if it's been repainted? I couldn't tell. I thought the previous owner just removed the decals.

Yes. A lot of unnecessary drama around here, usually the same players. That's why I obey this rule to the T.

IIRC, jamis has always put their logos/decals underneath the top clearcoat. They didn't take time to replace the headbadge so probably didn't come off in one-piece or broke/bent the crap out of it taking it off -- and there likely would be some scratches from removing it. The paint looks a little thick in places and doesn't look like its aged very well (which us untypical of a factory paint job)....but that could just all be the pictures and I very well could be wrong.

Don't worry, we only took one side of it.
