Campy experts, what do I have here?
Yeh, I know they are lever shifters, but any idea of model, era, etc? Can't for the life of me remember where I got 'em, but I think it was on an old Nishiki.
Thanks! ![]() |

The real Super Record shifters. Era? 1980s. None of that newfangled integrated stuff.

Friction, not index. I'm not sure when Campy when to index, but it must have been before the mid-80's. So they're at least that old. (assuming that's the right hand DT shifter)

1978 or later. The earlier ones were rougher, 1987 was the last year of production for these.

Those lever arms make great key chains and backpack zipper pulls. Just sayin'

Totally agree - I have three different key sets all on old Campy shift levers!

Hey, I put my time in with a set of Nuovo Record DT shifters (before moving to Suntour barcons)

Still ride these on a few bikes. But other early ('70s) Campy drivetrains got upgraded to Simplex Retrofriction shifters. They are fantastic. I like DT shifting, simple, light and direct.

Introduced CDA, A-B Chorus, Athena 'slant parallelogram' rear ders. Valentino really thought 'click shifting' was the thing of cycle-tourists and nurses so introduced big barrel Retro-Friction in late 80s..that worked great with these ders and he thought real racers and pros would not do the click shifting gig... Opps. BUT, still have these on my Moots with an Athena rear der.
