Yamaguchi Custom Road (WIP)

One of a few Covid-Phase projects that were ordered and finally materialised after much waiting.

Now at Black Magic for paint and the wait process continues.

Awesome

Can't wait to see it painted and built. And that seat stay has me coming back to take another look (many times). What's the purpose/goal of the design?

will be painted in Viola Parsifae as the base.

I never asked about them - i just like them.

I suppose the double wish-bone Seat-stays are just a form of engineering expression from 3rensho days.

There was a mid level (if I recall) Japanese production frame that had stays similar to that. Blanking on it for now... I'll probably wake up at 3AM with a name.

Good looking frame. I hope the finished product is everything you're expecting and more.

well the frame's geometry was a mystery to me even when i received the pictures..and only after much asking.

on a positive perspective, Yamaguchi must had a certain ideal when he came up with the numbers, just that i was never consulted - seems i may have to go lower and longer than my usual posture.

Since i had a Sachs built before this, the quirks of old masters are not too much of a surprise.

I love his work so much! It's especially wonderful to see examples of his building that showcase his creativity and flair for design. Like this one.

Can't wait to watch it come together! Thanks for sharing with us--

I'll just say that, both Sachs and Yamaguchi have common traits as to how they deal with customers especially in terms of communication - a good deal of patience is needed if one wants their work and be prepared to not get what you want.

I hate to say it but sounds like excuses for poorly run businesses but some are willing to roll the dice.

This looks very cool so maybe it all worked out for the better

thanks for your interest.

no...but here are some teasers below.

Can anyone guess the groupset that is on it?
hint - it shares the same initials on the bike.

The bike and i are in different countries..and i only got photo updates on its build from the workshop. I'll get better pictures before i put out a dedicated post.

It’s a super record rs group. Crank logo gives it away.

good eye!

Though not visible, the deda seatpost, stem and handlebar also have an RS designation. I thought it was matchy-matchy in a subtle way.
