Cherubim - custom road

Pre-Covid I had placed an order for a Cherubim alongside the Bishop lugged max that I just finished up. Just so happened that in the intervening time i built up a stainless Kirk. So, when the dust settles it will be a wicked builders showcase across Kasei, Reynolds and Columbus tubing. I’ll have to clear out some others as I was just audited by my wife who happened into the furnace room/bike locker…..

The Cherubim in question isn’t a stock model, but most closely resembles their Racer model. I had asked for substantive aero fillets as they have showcased on some show bikes, but they have suggested much smaller aero offerings due to tube integrity during welding. I also wanted a monostay seatstay with direct mount under CS mounted brakes. Stainless bottom bracket, cherubim stem, chromed stays, and Kasei tubing etc.

The fork is aa interesting choice. I went through Holland Cycles and had Mike Lopez (formerly Reynolds Serotta forks) do up a custom tapered carbon fork with Titanium dropouts, built to my weight and specs. It’s a different mold than the serotta S series forks. It turned out wonderfully. It’s gorgeous.

So finally (it was a looonnnggg wait) it should be built up soon. I didn’t take any photos before it went off to Jesse at Blacksmith for the build. Here are some photos via the Cherubim official instagram.

Wow. Looks amazing. Congrats on the new frame. Can’t wait to see it all built up.

I don’t think I’ve seen a Cherubim that wasn’t a work of art. Magnificent!

Fork turned out really well. In one pic, it looks very much like their Max crown design. Wishbone stays... what's not to like here? Lovely frame!

Please leave it at blacksmith until next weekend so I can see it in person when I go in to pick up my bike.

Just gorgeous! What brakes are being used? I dont see disc mounts (makes sense) but I also don’t see a rim brake mount!

It’s Jesse’S first build of 23’. It should be in the shop, and if not, ask for it. Tell him Dave said so!!

EE Rim brakes. Direct mount rears under the chain stays behind the BB, and regular mount on the front fork.

Ahhh, I wondered if the brake was on the chainstay…

This is so beautiful that I would have a hard time riding it. I hope you don’t have the same weakness that I have.
