Homing in on the final refinements for this one, with just a couple left to go..

The fit on this is too aggressive for it to be my long-distance driver - but perfect for it to be a hammerfest/racer/trainer.. it jumps, hammers, and dives like the finely tuned and refined machine it is.

Groupset: staying SR12 and eeBrakes - but may go to a Rotor InPower w 52/36 rings - the pros are that it's an easy get for a high-quality PM - the cons is it does not look nearly as elegant as a proper Campagnolo or SRM PM.. although, with machined alloy brakes, post, and stem, it kind of fits somewhat.

Wheels: staying Bora WTO 45s and they fit 25mm Continental GP5000s with proper clearance under the eeBrakes (did not fit under the SR12 brakes) - currently running latex tubes but will switch those out to Tubolito I think, mostly to get proper length valve stems without having to run extenders.

Seatpost: Thomson Masterpiece - perfect with an SMP saddle and matches the Extralite stem's aesthetics.

Stem: Extralite 6-deg 120mm with integrated out-front Garmin mount - light, stiff and fits the profile of the frame.

Handlebars: PRO PLT Carbon Aero 42cm - unsure if these will stay or end up on my long-distance one since they are super comfortable and I can do with some alloy ergonomic bars with a little longer reach on this build for its purpose.

Tape: some no-name used white tape I had that is slippery and has to go once I land on which bars I'm using - have Fizik Vento in white ready to go on.

Saddle: SMP Composit - fits my sit-bones perfectly and is super comfortable, though I think I need to nose down a degree or so (trainer must not be level).

Cages: Calfee carbon - love the way these hold Specialized purist or similar bottles, and that they are hand-made in California.

Pedals: DA9100 +4mm - may go to Time Xpro shortly on all my bikes to get more support and adjustability.

That's it. Nearly done and ready for dusting.

Really nice! That paint scheme works well.

What cable set is that?

The cable housing is NOS white Campag housing, 11 speed era - and it's got the standard max-smoothie 12 speed stuff running through it.. so far so good. I bought the white housing off Ryun probably three years ago.

So nice! And, ftw, a return to the luxe class of white saddle/white tape.

Primo.

I remember Dario saying previously layback seat posts were meant for his frames...

Technically, yes - but a SMP saddle gives about 1-1.5cm setback itself and in the taller frames with a slack STA, that can start to get pretty far back if one were to use a 25mm SB post. My sweetspot may be a 12mm setback Deda and that's where I could end up on this one.

I find these "rules" a touch silly.

Ride the damn bike in the manner that gets you into the most "proper" position. Leave the internet keyboarding 'til later. Much later.

Furthermore, at least in this case, the saddle appears clamped dead center on the rails.
Beautiful bike.

Bars look pretty shallow, which is good for your ergo issues. If you go aluminum, would recommend FSA WingPro Compact and its relations. Nice shallow drop helps with making fit slightly less aggressive imo. (Is 'too aggressive' in the reach or in the drop?)

Looks fantastic, btw! A very rare version of the MxO with that paint.

Have to say, I don't get EE brakes. At all. Fugly as all get out. atmo. (Can't believe the Campy brakes couldn't clear 25mm tires on those wheels. That's bad.)

Ha ha, maybe some day on the stem but my hands can't handle "classic" bends.. it's no good for my nerve issues to have my hands cocked forward on sloping shoulders or up and unsupported to reach the levers from the drops.

Hmm, I seem to recall that there are a number of adjustments on those calipers to increase clearance. There was definitely a thread where a PLer went from "max 25s" to "clears 28s easily" with just a single adjustment.

As stated before, I heart panels. Looks great.
