Well, here's the history..

Peg #1: Picked this up off eBay at a screamer good price in 2017, noting it was before Dario passed, in a bit of a lull as far as the perceived value of them.. I struggled a bit with the HT length and figuring out setback - ended up selling it - and then re-buying it - and selling it again. I have a suspicion this exact frame is the one that's for sale on eBay right now that the seller won't hear any of reducing their price (offered at $3100).

Peg #2: Spent too much time reading The Jerk's comments on Peg fit ideas and decided to try a 56 Mxxxxxo, which was admittedly crazy but hey, it was covid times and I was bored.. it actually didn't work out that bad, just a ton of toe overlap. So it got sold too.

Peg #3: I chased this one when it was first offered on PinkBike but the original owner made purchasing impossible and I forgot about it until it popped back up on PinkBike offered from another seller who'd bought it from the original owner.. I love the Thelonius paintwork on it and figured the custom lower HT would be great - the reach turned out to be a bit long for me though and a PL buddy up north wanted it so I let it go too.

Peg #4: So now I'm on to this one.. with my current neck/nerve impingement issues, I know I'm building it as a wall-hanger or short-ride ripper at best - until my strength and flexibility improves enough to handle 12cm of drop like the old days.

And because of that, Peg #5 may be happening - a NOS 61 Duende Faema for sale at my local Pegoretti dealership.. yes, it has an even longer HT than Peg #1 above - but that's what I need right now and maybe for a while.

I've liked each of these that you've tried. The paint of the Duende (No.5) is so typical Peg - not something I would be intuitively drawn to but it just works and I think would look great built up. I love the genius of these dropped top tube bikes

Dude. Killing me.

If this continues, I'll likely be drug along with you. I see there's a Love #3 available in my size.

Thanks for the history! I love Peg #3! That paint is just killer but when a bike doesn't fit, it doesn't fit. Have you posted elsewhere about your neck and nerve impingement? If yes, I must have missed it. Regardless, sounds like it sucks and I hope the situation resolves sooner rather than later.

That coppery one is gorgeous and the Thelonius paint is the colour of the first Peg I ever laid eyes on. Beauties!

It's called "ConnRust" - which I believe is the paint that's used for guardrails in Italy.. you can strike a match against it. It looks amazing in person but is also quite a pain to keep clean. Cost of doing business. And one I would certainly pay if I found a 60cm version on offer.

Yea, Hilltopper had one that I got to lay hands on. It's really quite a unique finish, almost like a "rough" powdercoat. Hard to describe, but cool!

‘I have a suspicion this exact frame is the one that's for sale on eBay right now that the seller won't hear any of reducing their price (offered at $3100).’

Is that the one in Yorba Linda?

If so, looks like it has dropped to $2799

Yep, might be able to get it a bit lower.. but I’d be hoarding at that point. If I was to pick up a third Peg I’d have to diversify into other models.

Not finished, but built..

Just waiting on wheels and a different post.

..

And to be healthy enough to ride 10.5-11cm of drop again.
