allez sprint>>>AETHOS

Picked up a used Aethos from eBay, and trying to sell the Allez Sprint which was a fun, fast ride but very aggressive fitting and harsh riding. I put on the gravel groupset from my Open which I just cracked and warrantied. Just did my first real ride on it today and it's much more comfortable and lower back friendly than the Allez S. This gearing might leave something to be desired for descents, but I was fried as hell today after my friend's bday party at a wine bar last night and couldn't even really tell TBH.

Looks great. I bet swapping to an XPLR rear derailleur and 10-44 cassette would be perfect

EEwings on that frame look so cool

I’m curious to know how riding the 35s on this frame goes so please do share if you end up putting them on. I am building up and Aethos myself and I read somewhere 35s were a tigghhttt fit.

Scratch that, looks like they are already on in the latter picture? If so, any issues with clearance while riding?

Nah those are 28s in the pic. I haven't installed the 35's yet but I'm kinda nervous because these are Velocity Blunt SS rims (mountain bike rims) with 26.6mm internal width, very high chance these tires don't fit. If not, I'll find another bike for em

get this

get this, the Bon Jon Pass 700x35's measure almost exactly 38mm and they still clear (barely!). Clearance is most concerning at the chain stays, 1ish mm on either side. At the seat stays, there is a healthy 5-6mm of clearance, no issues. At the fork crown, about 3-4mm all around. I think these would be perfect on narrower rims.

Hot damn! That’s awesome. I just may give this a shot on my 21mm inner width rims then. Thanks and dope build! This is very affirming for my somewhat impulse purchase of the aethos frame.
