Super nice build. I love the fork and ultradynamicos. Hopefully the rain will make for some smooth dirt roads on your test rides.

I am excited for your ride impressions. Between the tubing choices and slightly slacker seat tube angle, I have always guessed that Breadwinner Continentals would ride rather luxuriously.
On that note, curious if you got a build sheet with the bike. My Continental (bought used) has 73/73 angles, so a half degree steeper head tube than “stock.” It also has a 50mm offset fork, so fairly low trail.

Ride report: This bike is absolute perfection on wheels. After the first short ride this afternoon, I feel an immediate connection with this bike. I can't pin it down exactly, but it just feels "right" under me. Everything jives together nicely.

I need a seatpost with a hair less setback, and have concluded that whatever the stock blue brake pads VO loads in their calipers are total rubbish. Other than that - this one appears dialed. Oh yea, that green speedsleeve will be replaced by a more muted alternative.

Just in time for fall, the best riding season here in the northeast. I hope we have a nice long fall which will allow some epic rides. So happy I stumbled on this one and even happier it exceeds my expectations.

Yes, the stock pads are curiously disappointing, given how good those brakes are. I ran my default Kool Stop salmon pads and all was well.

Sweet bike - I like their twist on the classic panel scheme.

Angry,

What kind of clearance do you see on this? I'm looking at one.

FWIW, on my Continental (which is bigger, ~ 62 cm, so not sure if chainstays are longer or it otherwise has more clearance than Angry’s), I’ve comfortably fit 35mm GravelKings on a 19mm internal width rim (I’m now running the Grand Cru calipers, but it still fits). It will fit a 38mm in back but not in front.

Agree. Mine is wearing 33's at the moment with some breathing room. I think a 35 is about the max you really want to do with mid reach brakes.

Nice bike Nick. I know the feeling of that perfect, smooth riding bike. I have two that meet that standard well and they are both steel. They also both have an 80mm BB drop which is more than most and, I think, improves stability by lowering the center of gravity. They are my new-to-me David Kirk JKS and my Alliance by Erik Rolf. I always like your ride reports on both forums.

How did you like the Paul brakes? Why did you switch to dual pivot calipers?

The reality is that for me, if I'm mainly on the road or even well groomed packed dirt/cinders, 32-33mm tires are too fat for my liking.

On with Challenge Strada 27's.

Bliss
