I haven't met a Lemond I didn't like. I say build it up and enjoy it!
The two I currently enjoy: ![]() ![]() The others I had, loved the ride of all of them: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This is the only one I never got to know. Got it to reconfigure back into a standard road bike but wound up selling the frameset before I did. Just needed space. ![]() |

I say build it, but it looks like you have a buyer for it already. That's a very nice looking frameset.
The 853 Lemond bikes are sweet riding bikes for sure. My recently retired 2001 Zurich was fantastic. I have a 2001 Lemond ti (Tete De Course), and a 2003 Wayzata (like a Poprad). |

Anyways, trust me, these forks are nothing to write home about. Granted I’m not a small guy (200ish) but these original carbon forks are flexy as hell. When I upgraded to a Columbus Minimal fork a few years ago, it was a HUGE upgrade. And FWIW, I could fit a 28mm tire, but that’s about it. A Michelin 28 (actually a 30) did not fit. Just in case you were wanting to try to stuff big meats on there. |
