Continental Grand Prix tyres on a MTB?

I am thinking about putting 26x1.125 GP slicks on a hardtail mountain bike to ride around town. The wheel rims are 17mm wide inside.

Any thoughts about whether these tyres will do the trick? I'd also considered Schwalbe Marathons but the GPs should have a faster feel.

Also, is the extra $ to get the folding bead vs wire bead likely to be worth it on a MTB? The difference in weight is about 250g for the folding per tyre vs 350g for the wire bead.

Thanks
