Saddles through the ages....

Glute perches of time...

I'm guessing that the Super-hi back Selle Italia launch pad, that was seen in 1991 TdF prologue and subsequently banned by UCI, gives too much support to push off of for added leverage. I'm sure it works, but it's dang ugly.

Somehow you are posting presently and your name is not even on the list of currently active users. How is that happening?

I'm in invisible mode. I'm here...but I'm not. Or am I really here, but not here at the same time? Or is it that I'm not not here, but I might be here in another dimension? Now I'm confused!!

Invisible mode- It must have taken a lot of bottles of disappearing ink to accomplish that.

Sorry that I changed the focus of your thread (temporarily).

Especially if the seat post is all too visible.

I'm warming up to...

that saddle used by an Indian rickshaw driver.

If my current saddle doesn't work I'm contacting those guys.

BassetMan,

I believe it was banned because it acted as a fairing. Not sure why, since they are allowed to wear the funky helmets now....

High Back Saddles

Thanks for the interesting link. Those Selle Italia high back saddles were bizarre, but they did work. The picture was good, because it also showed Corima's carbon integrated time trial bars, which more than made up for the saddle's homeliness. The other saddle above with a high back is identified as another Selle Italia model, but is actually a San Marco; It is the "Concor Sprint". Especially for a lighter rider, there is nothing quite like having a surface to push agains for big gear work.
