Any of you LA guys doing the tourist race saturday ?

i dont have a gps or anything, so am not really sure how easy it would be just follow people etc.

Also, if it is 70 miles/9k ft self supported, how the hell does not one have a camelback on? what is the water situation ?

I'm on the debate with participating, but if I do, you could tag along assuming you're on for the ride and not actually racing.

You could follow people given you remember who you are riding with. The group is mixed, some fast dudes, but alot more riding at a social pace. Depending on your fitness and riding ability, you might be able to just stick with the same folks the whole way. One of the issues is the possibility of getting dropped. It is over the weekend, and on a nice day, so there are much more people on trails. Just try to remember who's around you before starting, this way you don't end up following the wrong people on the trails.

For 70 miles/9k at a cooler temp, 2 big bottles may be sufficient. The route does spit back into town eventually, so you could stop off for water. Depending on who's there at each checkpoint, sometimes they have water, or beer, but don't count on it.

Alright, i committed last night.
I have all the gps points in my iphone as a back up.
I hate riding with a pack but i feel it is the responsible thing as someone going solo. Will have some tools, tube, extra water etc.
Last thing i need is to mooch off people that i am already trying to follow.
My goal is to just finish, quicker the better but dgaf

let me know if you or anyone else is going. Cheers
Last question, easy free parking around gsc ?
