Because a few people have now mentioned products that are handlebar bag-adjacent, it might be a good time to mention that Apidura just released a full-length top tube bag. Dimensions shown below. Width is a relatively narrow 1.8".
Bikerumor had an article on this. Apparently, Fiona Kohlbinger (who won the 2019 Transcontinental overall) also wanted something she could reach into while pedaling, but doesn't have much room inside her main triangle. She did use an Apidura racing handlebar bag during Transcontinental. That bag is no longer listed on Apidura's site (very recent development, not sure what's up), but it did look relatively easy to get into, and it even had two water bottle pockets. Apidura still list the smaller racing mini bar bag, but that will definitely obscure front computer mounts. |

My favorite bag is the Ruthworks Ultralight Brevet. It has both the velcro and shock cord closure. I've gone down some really bumpy stuff and I've never had it open up. I ride 40cm bars so I don't have much bar space and the shape of the bag takes up less space than a cylinder-shaped bag. I had one problem where I had it really stuffed and heavy. One of the cam buckle straps worked loose over rocky terrain and I lost the strap. I replaced the straps with a pair of Voiles. The Voiles seem more secure.

A Belgian Amo Bag holds 10 hours of high effort carbohydrates and doesn't restrict any hand positions. The buckle sucks and it opens the wrong way but nothing else made is so perfect.
