When it comes to ultimate traction, lockers are simply the best. It can be for rocks or any situation where you want ultimate grip and control.
It's also the best way not to tear up a trail.
People get stuck in pretty simple situations because they twist up the axles and start spinning tires...

Yes, it requires someone that knows what they are doing. However, that goes for any driving skill. But, most will probably appreciate atrac more than lockers if you are doing light duty offroad.

3FE 80 series is SLOW. It's Nairo Quintana in a field sprint with Sagan, Kristoff and Gaviria- SLOW.
But it's a simple, indestructible engine.
I like how people complain about the FJ80 being slow but nobody has anything to say about the 60 series which is just as slow if not slower, lol... but yes it’s slow, I personally don’t really care though it gets where it needs to go and the fzj doesn’t seem to be appreciably faster IME.

Everyone says the 60 is slow.LOL
The 3FE was a carryover from the 62 until the 1fZ.

The 1FZ has way more usable power, and more comfortably delivered. nowadays, importantly it can be built to be reliably fast. It's definitely the preferred motor.
The 1FZ, being the truck twin of the 2JZ, is incredibly stout.

But they are all Land Cruisers, and just finding a good one is hard.

We rented a huge Toyota SUV in Costa Rica. Took it off-off-road to climb a mountain and bent the axle on the way down. The road vibration made for an interesting rest of the trip.

When I dropped it off at Alamo I said, "Sorry. Bent the axle. Don't rent this one." Yes, I had full coverage.

Yeah, car rental is always an adventure in CR.

My wife has family near Atenas and we like to drive down from Liberia.

We try to rent a Prados each time as they are so versatile/reliable.

No bent axles for us yet, but I am amazed at how much abuse these will take on the mountain roads.

Wow if that's US legal, registered in Washington, it's a great one to snap up.

The turbo diesels are iron clad indestructible. Perfect offroad rig
Looks like very well equipped w/ all the desirable goodies

This bussiness has been around a while so I'm willing to bet all paperwork for US use is on the up and up...though do your homework anyway.

Honestly I think at this point this is probably a way to get a decent lower mileage LC these days. They don't tend to bring over rigs that have been used and abused. Again do your homework, check them out thoroughly, and if you don't mind driving on the right side of the vehicle you can get a pretty nice rig.

looks like a RHD as well....very cool.

The VX turbo Landcruiser (HJ61V) I see around my neighborhood (driven by some 18-20 YO kid) is RHD as well.

Wouldn't be surprised if he got it from the same place.

Iron Pig...

Somewhere in the thread someone mentioned being interested in finding a pig. Here's one in decent shape though it's had a 350 crate motor installed.

No affiliation...

I have what I think is a good one, and I'm thinking of selling it. Red 1978 FJ40...

Yeah, this should probably be in the classifieds, except I'm not active in marketing it right now.

Nice! I've always prefered the 60's round headlights over the 62's square ones.

Your other "rig" is no slouch either!

Wow you have two classics. Nice collection!
Always loved the tan color on the 60.
Is the RX a LS conversion? or is that a FMIC intake for the turbo

both gorgeous
