Bib shorts that don't ride up

I have short legs (30.5" inseam), my thighs must be skinny because all my bib shorts ride up and I keep having to pull them down during a ride.
I have Q36.5 Dottore and Gregarius. The Dottore stay in place better but I cannot afford them unless they are on sale but they are the best bibs i have used. Neither of them have silicone grippers. I used to use La Passione and they were pretty good but the last pair disintegrated prematurely and it looks like they are going out of business. Any others to consider? Budget is up to $250.

I'd suggest eliel in their short length inseam. They fit well and stay in place.

If the Q36.5 stuff works for you, try their Essential bibs. A bit more compression than the Gregarious with a similar pad and finish to the legs, just no dyneema panel under the seat. I wear the Gregarius most, and agree with you that the Dottores are my favorite bibs (bar the AssosCampionissimo s9), but the Essential are in the same league. Definitely the best “daily driver” bibs I’ve owned.

I found Dottore at Bikeinn for a really good price.
I never ordered from them before but might take a chance.
Also Velocio Concepts are on sale in red, not sure how they compare.

Velocio are pretty compressive and stay in place. Can also check out what they have under the renewed program to save some money if they have your size.

I almost exclusively use Velocio Concept. They definitely stay in place. They are quite compressive, so much so that they have a guide showing you how to put them on.

How durable are the Velocio Concepts?
How is the pad as far as thickness and density? I tend to like a denser pad.
One thing that impresses me about the Q36.5 Dottore is even after more than a year of use they show no wear and have not stretched out at all.
No other Bibshorts I have used have been this durable.

Pad is quite thick. They stretch a bit initially, but not after that. I have a 4yr old pair that I still use.

Voler bibs are in that budget range and work very well for me. Their Peleton models are probably cut too generous for your needs but the other models should work. Good luck.

Has anybody compared Velocio Concept and Luxe?
I like that the Luxe does not have an extra band at the leg opening.
They have different pads and not sure how they compare.

Assos equipe rs schtradivari s11. I wear the long and the leg cuffs do no move.

Better than Velocio signature and Giordana FR-C (IMO). And, same to lower price point.

I have mostly Assos Equipe/Mille bibs IIRC. I have one other Assos model and I have a pair of Voler bibs that I never really wear that were from an event. The Assos ones look like they have changed models confusingly so I'll be stressed about the next purchase fitting right.

I find bibs riding up can be significantly effected by saddle position:

- Saddle too high - bibs will be more likely to ride up from hips rocking
- Saddle too far forward - my legs make me want to sit further back on the saddle than intended, this causes rubbing that makes the chamois bunch up and ride up
- Saddle too far back - I will keep finding myself sliding onto the nose, which pushes the chamois backwards, which will then cause the legs to ride up.

I kind of think a bunch of my Assos are worn out too at this point.. they last forever and ever and ever compared to anything else I've owned but they are probably looser than they were when new. Most of the ones I have right now I got for $125-150 so insane value given how long they hold up. The lower priced ones are just a crazy value.

The luxe are my favorite shorts… super compressive and stick to my legs once on…. The chamois is my favorite just works for me. Not the biggest fans of the concept chamois, just didn’t work for me. Both are really excellent bibs, just didn’t like the concept chamois for me. The luxe bibs are so soft and smooth, whereas the concept material felt more like a normal bib to me…


For what it’s worth, I found that shaved legs none of my bibs slide at all, really stick to the leg, if I don’t shave, things slide around quite a bit more. It’s the biggest advantage to me from shaving, really keeps things stuck and in place… don’t like the feel of bibs with leg hair anymore as things just move around enough to be a pain…

Thanks for the feedback, it sounds like the Luxe are the way to go.
Also considering Assos but from what I read Velocio are more compressive which I like.
I used to shave my legs a long time ago but now since I am old and slow i don't bother.
