Garmin 1040 goes live 5/26 on R&A, by mistake

Seems like R&A place the 1040 a bit early. Received an email notification on this new model.

They have taken it down now from their website until the end of the embargo. Got a screen cap with models and price:

And the other configurations listed above as well.

I do like the possibility of a solar option. Curious to know how effective it is.

Well it’s at least 10 better than the 1030.

I literally purchased my 830 yesterday. I guess I should return it and wait for the official launch.

Nah. The 830 is a solid unit.

Agreed. 830 is the best unit garmin has ever made. I could never go back to the size and heft of a 1000 or 1030

I guess I just wondered about a solar 840. Do they usually release them at the same time or stagger ?

They always stagger by a year or two.

The 830 is currently awesome, can't see them doing anything with it other than the normal "plus" refresh with a slightly speedier processor, improved screen and battery life. But that's still just a polish, not a wholesale revision

I got my 830 about 10 months ago, I think its absolutely great, will say however that the solar option definitely intrigues me.
They already have this on a couple of the watches so it totally makes sense to have it on a bike computer that is a) larger then a watch and b) facing the sun more directly then a watch.
