Same here. Moots and Holland both have it. Merlin doesn't (iirc).

Moots does it too.

Here are pictures of mine XT-1. It's an excellent bike. I would recommend buying one as the customer service and product are at the highest level.

If you don't like the sleeve weld then I recommend getting an ISP. Mosaic makes the prettiest in the business. I wish I had done it.

That weld, and the ones connecting the chain-stays to the drop-outs are so gorgeous - I have no idea how they do it so intricately and smoothly. It's crazy.

Eriksen's have it too. see below (pic pulled from the custom gallery).

my older Moots with the integrated binder bolt has it. pretty sure my newer one without integrated binder doesn't. and I don't think my older IF (basically made by the Firefly guys, before they were Firefly) has it either. I don't really mind it.

My Carl Strong custom has one, too. I would have NEVER noticed it if I hadn't seen this thread.

And Carl says "The purpose is to decrease the inside diameter to that of commonly available seat posts. In your case 27.2. It also adds extra material in an area that has a lot of stress; welding, reaming and slotting."

I visited the shop this time last year:

Here's a link to the pics if you are interested. Top notch little operation that is growing and doing things right.
