Ouzo Pro - how to find rake measurement?
I have an Ouzo Pro fork on a bike where the stem is slammed all the way. No room to go up. I need to swap that out for awhile with same model & rake but more steerer.
[Edit: the sticker on the steerer is toast, can't see the print] Thanks. Last edited by 54ny77; 11-29-2020 at 02:50 PM. |

It's probably 45mm.
Put it on a stack of books and measure that way subtracting half of the steerer diameter. |

That's what I was going to suggest, except you were able to use a lot fewer words.

What bike and what's the frame size (or do you have any of the geometry details such as HTA)? Was fork original stock equipment on whatever bike this is?

Yes I found the original frame geo specs from '09, but couldn't find email with the fork rake spec
"Head Tube length 140cm, 1 1/8 Top Tube CtC 55cm Chain Stay length 41cm Head tube angle 73 degrees Seat tube angle 73 degrees BB Drop 6.7 cm Seat tube length c of BB to top of seat tube 52.5 cm Tires used 23 cm Stand over height approx 77c, 4 inches in front of saddle tip" |

or you just lie the steerer tube flat on some books. measure dropout to the floor, rotate the fork 180 degrees and measure again, the difference between the measurements after you subtract half the steerer tube diameter is the rake. |

if you rotate it and subtract the measurements, it's twice the rake.
In the single measurement scheme, you have to subtract the height of the books. I was going to say to put it in your fork fixture and read the scale, but I suppose that's not helpful IMG_20190126_214532387 by unterhausen, on Flickr Last edited by unterhausen; 11-29-2020 at 04:53 PM. |

Fiction or non-fiction?

Either, but if you use English language books, you'll only be able to measure in inches. If you want to measure in millimeters (metric units), you'll have to use books written in a European language like French or German.

I assume hardcover is preferred?

With a 73 degree head tube angle I’d suspect your current fork has 43mm of offset.
That would be my preferred offset with that head tube angle. It really depends on if you prefer your bikes to be on the quicker or more stable side of the handling spectrum. I prefer what I perceive as moderate to stable feeling frames. Others prefer what I’d call twitchy riding geometries. To each their own. BTW, I love the Ouzo Pro. Perhaps the best fork ever at balancing a solid ride feel with a comfortable ride quality. Quote:
