that little italian flag on the top tube...

maybe someones got some clues....There are these little metallic tri-colered italian flags on the side of top tubes in front of the seat tube on a lot of Italian bikes. Ive seen them on some Ciocc and Concord frames. So i wonder ....dont think Pelizolli does this. Current Ciocc name owners might. What about Billato ? Makes sense , some Concords have the flag some don't. The ones without the dinky flag i figure are made by Ciocc. I have 3 Ciocc's from late 70's to mid 80's. No flags, but they're outside of current Ciocc production. Indulge me with your thoughts. Who puts this little flag on the top tube ?

I have always seen these linked with Bilato. My early ‘90’s post Pelizzoli Ciöcc has one.

I thought Concord was made in Belgium? I have one on a Guerciotti.

yeh, my hunch is leaning with Billato. Current Ciocc i think has the flag too. So its weird. Concord was built by Ciocc and Bilatto for the Dutch team PDM. I heard many were painted in Belgium. To many builders build for others on the down low.

I've always thought it was Bilato as well.

I've also seen the flag on some DeBernardi models.

Need more info. Is the flag actually flag shaped? Or, a flag referenced in a diff shape (e.g. square, oval, etc)?

Cicli Barco’s trademark (when building under their name) is usually on the top tube, drive side. They are built like that today.

My Gios has one, too. It seems to be a braze-on that was readily available back in the day....

The brazed on flag is usually indicative of a Billato frame.

Agreed--and IIRC, some of the commonality of the look of the Concorde and Ciioc frames was common sourcing from them.

Those were pretty much the same, BITD.

Billato made some nice frames, not to be looked down upon at all.
