Shopping for bib shorts based on chamois
Hello All:
The time has come for me to buy a couple of pair of bibs. Frankly the choices are overwhelming and the prices vary over a huge range. My impression is that the various shorts companies generally use chamois made by a few suppliers. So, how do I know which are the best chamois and what brand uses them in their bibs? Thanks, Jim |

As you mention...most bibs have their chamois made by few suppliers....I mostly see CyTec / Elastic Interface as the go-to chamois....
Since the chamois are all pretty much the same...go with the brand that has the best fit. I was shopping for new bibs this past summer....tried a few. Always have good luck with Capo....tried Ornot, but the cut on the lower leg was not right....also tried Rapha long (no go), but Rapha regular look promising. Showed up at same time as the smoke....so....still sitting in drawer ready to go for initial ride. I don't know if Rapha makes their own chamois or not....I think Assos makes their own, but don't know for sure.

What price range are you looking at?
If on a budget check out the black bib. |

I like the Shutt Velo Rapide line of bib shorts. The chamois is very comfortable on outdoor long endurance rides and short workouts on the trainer. The short fits very well and does not bunch up as the ride goes on. The upper portion of the shorts breath well and the straps are wide enough that they stay put.
They are kind of expensive so I wait for sales or bundle offers. |
