1x Sram-Manolo 12 speed?
What does PL think of this 1x setup for a drop bar City bike
SRAM Eagle GX - https://www.sram.com/en/sram/mountain/series/gx-eagle Campy Chorus 12 ErgoPower - https://www.merlincycles.com/en-us/c...ed-165751.html Jtek Shiftmate 2 to adjust pull ratio - http://www.jtekengineering.com/resou...compatibility/ This would be fit onto either an older Serrotta Ti frame or an older Independent Fab steel frame, both with 1" fork. This is a run-around bike that can handle steep hills without working up a sweat and simple shifting. Thoughts?

Supposedly a 1x campy gorup is about to be released, might be worth holding off and seeing what it’s about

That would be better
If it had drop bar shifters, it would be a great answer.

just use the sram shifters. sram road shifters will shift sram mtb derailleurs with no rollamajigs.

Sram Road->Sram Mtn - same ratio?
Does that work for 11 -> 11 and for 12-> 12?
I did not know that.

Be careful about this. There's a difference between "Exact Actuation" and "X Actuation", and they're not cross-compatible.

I havent tried 12s yet, I dont think there's any mechanical 12s sram shifters yet. For the OP, 11s rival setup with long cage RD will shift an 11-42 cassette, and I'd think that would be sufficient. Last edited by .RJ; 08-05-2020 at 10:27 AM. |

What are you trying to accomplish by mixing? Is there a reason you don't want to go with all sram or all campagnolo?

Target Outcome
Looking for a decent 1x11 or 1x12 with drop bars and high range to use as a city bike in San Francisco for errands not exercise. Just 'spin' up hills.
I would like a high range in the rear. My largest gear on other bikes is either 34 by 28/30, so 11-40 rear? I haven't fully thought out the full range, but maybe 40-42 in the front? This is going on a steel road frame, guessing the full set up will come in in the low 20lb range.

One of the nice things about sram is that these setups work nice with no adapters, no road/goat/etc links, no rollamajig things that never shift flawlessly, etc, etc. If you get a shifter meant for a front derailleur you can pull the pawl out and operate a dropper post, too. |
