Campagnolo cleat differences
Here is a picture of two different Campagnolo Pro-fit pedal cleats. The metal engagement pieces come in different versions. I could not find different part numbers for these anywhere. Please note the shape of the metal piece near the letter C enclosed by a diamond is different on the black shoe than the green shoe. The one on the black shoe is more pointy and the green shoe more rounded.
The problem is because of the shape difference it is very difficult to release the green shoe while riding even though the pedal tension is on the lowest setting. Can someone please help me out with a suggestion as to how to lower the release tension or purchase the metal part of the cleat with the shape of the one on the black shoe? Why has Campagnolo done this? |

The thing that controls release is that nub just under the area you point to. The areas you point to are what control cleat entry. All my cleats have been the rounded versions, I think. Maybe your old cleat is worn to where exit is easier.
To ease cleat release put a tiny amount of grease or wax on the nub of the cleat.

Agree with this. I also only have the rounded versions.

Mine seem to be the rounded version. Never knew there are several models.
I am told the replaceable plastic cleats are available in float or non-floant. |

There is a hex screw on the rear outside of the pedal that lets you adjust release tension....window on back of pedal has an indicator showing "+" or "-" tension setting....
All my cleats and spares look like the one on the green shoe....

I've had some "fixed" and "self aligning" in the past.

To hell with Campagnolo pedals. If have been using campy pedals since 1975. If they don't want to continue making them and the only option left are price gougers. I am out. I can't safely pull out of these pedals with the rounded metal holder.
I just ordered a pair of Garmin Rally RK200 pedals with Look Keo cleats. I will let you know how I like them. |

Do you need more cleats? Pay shipping and they are yours.

Now do cleat COVERS and you'll really have something. I stocked up up on pedals and cleats, but no cleat covers, nowhere, anywhere on planet earth.

Campagnolo would be wise to remain in the "cleat game" even if they opt to abandon manufacturing the pedals themselves. No sense alienating and angering Campagnolo aficionados (by forcing them to refit an entire collection of bicycles) to a current pedal/shoe/cleat manufacturer simply for want of cheap consumable plastic pieces.
