Sram Powerlink OK on Shimano chain (11s)

Even with my Park chain link pliers I couldn't get the Shimano link to snap in on this new HG601 chain, so I used an 11s SRAM one instead. Risking my life?

Nope, they work..did you try to put link on 'top' section of chain and give the pedal a 'wack' to try to seat it? I've had to do this with some KMC links.

I'm aware of that method but was worried how I would reverse it to get the link off!

I have the same tool which works well with SRAM and KMC but it wasn't working to get the Shimano link on, so I wasn't sure that it would get the link off...conservative move was use another brand quicklink.

For the Shimano links I've never been able to seat them with the tool shown. I just put them on the chain and one or two pedal strokes around the driveway and I feel it pop into place. Never had trouble getting them back off either.

Good call..I've never used that tool to install, just remove...

As an aside..Campagnolo now has a 13s 'snap link'..wonder if they will ever make one for 11s or 12s. Doubt it. Wonder if Campag makes it..

That's right, I'm criticizing Campagnolo

Campy is so ahead technically that one would expect they would have snap links for 11s, 11-1/2s, 12s, and 12-1/2s as well

Didn't Sheldon invent the 1/2 tooth cogs for even closer spacing of cassettes?
