Smile What goes around ..

Tonight an old friend came home. Back in the early mid 90s I had Ben Serotta build a custom Colorado II frame for me. It was perfect and passionately purple. However, life had different ideas. An ugly breakup and a clean divorce left me going a different direction. I sold a custom frame dripping with Campy Record and bought big wall climbing gear.
Thirty years later it pops up on Craigslist when I was looking for a beater. The stars aligned. It's not going to be my "A" bike, but it will have an honored place.
...now to find purple touch up paint.

Glad to see that you were able to buy it back. How do you plan to build it?

That looks to have a super slack STA. Congratulations on getting your ride back home.

We can't wait to here how well it fits your 30 year-older body.

I'm still riding with over 11 cm of handlebar drop and a pretty stretched out position, so I'm pretty sure I can make it work.
I have really long femurs so my hope is that I won't have to resort to a SB32 seat post like on all my other bikes.
The bike had some pretty nice Shimano 600 tricolour gear on it when I got it last night ($350!) but that all went into a box. I'm not much of a stickler for period correctness, so it's getting a mix of Force/Red components from my parts box. First it gets cleaned and touched up.

Congrats on the re-acquaintance with an old friend. My old Columbus SLX buddy serves as a sweet fixie for neighborhood solo criterium loops. Enjoy.

That's awesome. About 15 years ago I sold a custom Hot Tubes cyclocross frame, figuring that I didn't really need four 'cross bikes.

But...I was regretting the sale even before I delivered it.

A year later, still regretting the sale, I reached out to the buyer asking if he was interested in selling it back.

He was, and it returned home not long after!
