Cheapest wide road wheelset?
Hey all, I'm looking for a wheelset that would strictly be a backup wheelset. Wouldn't even see trainer use as I use a kickr. And they might see at most 5 - 10 outdoor rides per year, as most of my training is indoors now.
But, I would like a wide rim, to match or be close to my HED Jet Black wheels. My bike (Felt IA) does not have brakes that are easily width adjustable, so... I see sets like shimano RS21 and RS610 for really cheap, like 200, but they are narrow rims. But I'd love to find something in this price range. As much as I like the custom wheel builders on the forum, I am really hoping to find a cheap set like the shimano pre-builts, not 300-400. Help! Thanks! |

Fulcrum Quattro LG or 5 LG from UK Merlin, Ribble etc . are nice if you stretched budget a bit ~ $250-300. 7 LG are sub $200.

Velomine have a variety in ~$200 to $250 (and up, of course):
http://www.velomine.com/index.php?ma...&cPath=235_357 32 spoke Shimano 5800 hubs and your choice of Archetype or TB14 rims. Or keep an eye on your local Craigslist for current Bontrager TLR wheels. They come stock with a lot of Trek bikes and many people in this area sell them as new-take-offs for $150-$175. They're quite good at that price. |

For some (very) slightly wider options:
Hunt 4Season Aero (24mm external, 19mm internal) 1579g, $416 Neugent Cycling A220CW (24 external, internal width not listed) 1580g, $295 (there also appears to be a 10% off promo for buying wheels with red hubs) Ambrosio i20 (25mm external, 20mm internal) 1770g, $233 Last edited by stev0; 03-19-2018 at 10:38 AM. |

I think those 7's might fit the bill. $293 Canadian including 2 Conti GP4000S II tires...
