Soliciting headlight recs

My cygolite is still kicking but it is BEAT UP (battery is exposed, its electrical tapes together) and its a 300 so it’s not that bright. Somehow it’s still better than a lot of lights I see but I’m looking to up my game. I want something with at least twice as many lumens if not 3x or more so I can run it on lower settings to save battery. I’d prefer a flash mode if possible and it needs to be a self contained unit. Ideally it would be metal and nice looking but I’m ok with anything really. The light and motion urban 1000 with the amber side lights looks cool but maybe there’s a better option? I’d prefer to be able to mount it so it’s on the underside of the bars on the opposite side of my K-edge as well instead of sticking up on top of the bars.

Cateye makes several good lights in that range with good mounts.

I have the Urban 1000 and the Taz 2000. Both are great but I really like the Taz.

I'd recommend checking out the Lezyne 1100i. The beam is even, bright, and wide. I run it on the third setting from brightest since that still is bright enough for road riding. There is a flash mode, it's self contained, it has a metal case that can be bought in either black or silver, and it has a rubber strap mount that can have the light under or over the bars. The neat thing about the light is that you can buy a supplementary battery that connects via wire/plug to a port on the light so you can run the light at nearly twice the time.

I use mine 2-3 days a week and have now had it nearly a year. I like this one the best over others I've tried such as a Niterider Lumina 750.

I've really liked my Bontrager Ion Pro 1300.

Hmmm thanks for the ideas I'm looking into all of them. I found the Exposure Strada Mk10 which I like, while going down the headlight rabbit hole, but it's not cheap.

So the Lupine piko minimax is a boss but expensive.

Two of my buddies have the sefas usl 1600. They swear by it. ANd at the price below its hard to bet the price.

Rode with someone who has the outbound lighting bar light last week—immediately bought one for myself. Such a good, wide beam pattern. Really impressed.

It's bright enough that I always turn it down to low when riding in a group at night. The high setting creates a really strong shadow in front of the person in front of me. Good Prob to have when you're out alone though!

I actually have 2 of these and have done some awesome night MTB rides with them both on High. One on my bars and one on my helmet.

Hmm the serfas seems like the best deal probably.

Cygolite

Since you already have a Cygolite, why not get another one, they have a 1100, I have one and I think it's great, many modes, and I really like the 2 different flash modes, one flashes while still keeping the light on so it's great for night riding and the day time burst mode is awesome for drivers to see you, and the price is pretty sweet as well.

This. Amazing lights. I have the mtb version and the helmet one now as well. Solid engineering and light design. There is also an arm to mount it below the bars on a GoPro style mount.

Those look really awesome. Even though I know longer ride at night, seeing how great the newest light options are make me feel good because it reminds me how much better it can be to ride at night if I want/need to.

Another fan of the Taz. Can usually find the 1200 for around $100.

May be tough to find something that mounts sub bars though.

Also like Exposure, though as you've already seen, they're pricey.
