Nice one. I am already taking all of those. I am definitely getting old along with the chair.

as im working from my basement, i treated myself to a new chair

had an aeron for years, but got the HM embody...it is the best chair i've used...i can sit in it for a while without discomfort

got a mirra for my son and he seems to like it

i would avoid the refurbs readily available...ime they are obviously refurbed...i bot one and returned it promptly before buying new

It's funny, but back in the early- to mid-1990s, when I was working as a freelance audio engineer, it seemed like every recording studio had to have a Herman Miller Aeron in the control room

And then right around 2005 or 2010 it just stopped ...as if someone -- probably some trendsetter like Chris Lord-Alge or Jack Joseph Puig -- had decreed "No, sorry, Aerons are no longer hip, let's find another chair to embrace."

And now I only ever see them second-hand, and mostly in home offices. Uncanny.

My first experience with the Aeron chair was at an Internet startup in '97. One of the founders came around and said "here, take a look at this catalog, pick an office chair." So most of us picked the Aeron.

CFO heard that everyone ordered $1200 chairs and hit the roof.

alternative

It depends on how much you want to treat yourself. There are a ton of comfy chairs for any need. Nowadays there are a ton of gaming chairs. Usually, those are with some cheap PU leather and plastic. My favorite one is Herman Miller Mirra as well. It fits the interior of my room. And that's an important requirement for me. You could check secretlab titan review for more options. For sure you'll find a better option instead of refub. Good luck

Old thread but timely. TLDR. For me it has to be mesh, seat bottom and back.

I got the highest rated Aeron knock off. Real nice. $400 delivered.

A couple of my coworkers went the same way.

Most of us have also gotten standing desks...I still have to finish putting mine together (cherry wood top, currently boards stacked on my shop floor), but no rush as I'm permanently work from home....

Gaming chairs tend to not be properly ergonomic though.

Might be harder to source now that offices are empty but I got a Steelcase Leap V2 for $300 pre-pandemic. Best chair I've ever used. Much prefer it to an Aeron. Truly fixed any back pain I had from sitting.

I love my Aeron. Got it, as new, on craigslist for $300 about 7 years ago. Great chair.
