Peter Sagan fined for April incident
No, not for doping, but arguably for being a dope.

No big deal... he had covid, and if you have covid you're not supposed to be vaxxed for three months. His 'arrest' was inside this time frame. He was also blitzed and apologized for his behaviour and IIRC being out after curfew.
Doesn't affect how I feel about him. He's an amazing athlete who always entertains us by his actions on and off the bike and when he slips up, he always apologizes. |

€5000 fine for being peter sagan. i have to think any commoner would be looking at prison for assaulting a police officer.
im sure the law functions a lot differently in monaco than pretty much any other western nation, but i still feel pretty strongly if thousandaire me had resisted arrest and assaulted a police officer, id be looking at a ****ton more trouble than a goddamn €5k fine. but.... im also sure they wouldnt even let me in to begin with, so apples : pool balls.

I'm sure the vax stuff was a diversion for him being hammered and out after curfew. Don't care... Sagan amuses the hell out of me.

So in Monaco...if you get pulled over for drunk driving they take you to the hospital?

I sure am glad to live in a place where we don't get arbitrary curfews. I find it hard to believe that the casinos in Monaco close at 10 PM. I wonder if his popularity was used to make an example for others to see.

He may have needed a medical clearance if they planned to arrest him and had been in a physical incident with an officer... but mostly likely it was to get blood drawn for a blood alcohol test.

i suppose when youre never farther away from "the hospital" than like a half mile anywhere in the country, its a pretty easy thing to em over real quick

Meh, he's still young (compared to me) and money has always conferred privilege. As a retired LEO, you expect people under the influence of alcohol or drugs to occasionally act irrationally and/or out of character. You deal with it as humanely possible, then go on the the next call. Most people who act out under the influence of alcohol/drugs honestly regret having done so when it's worn off. Mostly because they truly see their actions in a different, sober light.
Besides, it's not like the guy cheated to win 7 TDFs and ruined people's lives. |

Why would police need a blood alcohol test when he wasn't driving?
