'86-'88 7/11 team bike?
Do you own an original 7/11 Team Bike from the Murray/Huffy era that you'd be willing to show off?
Of course the idea occurred to me a bit late, but I'll be at the Rapha DC Clubhouse this Wednesday July 25 with a pair of my new bikes.... but I thought it would be fun (and educational to the under 50 crowd) to show an old team bike. I'll be doing more events like this in the near future and so if you are a collector or proud owner, I'd love to hear from you. Please feel free to email me directly at benserotta@serottadesginstudio.com. Thanks for your consideration... and hope to see you in DC! Ben |

IIRC there's one hanging in University Cycles in Boulder, ask nicely and they might shove it in a box and Fedex it?

It's Hampsten's and yes, team bike but not a serotta, AFAIK.

The last few times that I’ve been in to University Bicycles, I’ve noticed that the bike is actually labelled as being Davis Phinney’s.

Tampa Serotta 7-11
The bike is likely a 56. a little surface rust on the head tube, top tube but its not too bad.
I say likely because its based on the owners measurements (21.75)top tube, 31.5 standover Ray |

I owned one for a time. Purportedly one of the '84 Olympic team bikes.

I wouldn’t mind, certainly, but I don’t have one. I still have a CSi (nice, but it needs a respray— not very show-offy) and an HSG Ti — not custom, but a great bike and a great fit. My brother has my old steel Serotta cross bike as an all-rounder; and I had a Ti Serotta cross bike that served me well for a season or two until it was stolen.
I’m in DC and would be glad to stop by to see the show and say thanks for some great rides over the years but ... well, we’ll be celebrating my kid’s 21st birthday instead. |
