11 Speed compatibilty question

I have a project I am starting and have a question. I have a complete 5800 group drive train with the exception of the cassette. I also bought (in shipment) a set of Mavic Crossride 29” wheels. From what I have been able to decipher from Google the spacing is the same between the cogs on the cassette but the length of the cassette body is different between the road and mountain versions. This leads me to think I need to but a MTB 11 speed cassette to work with the Mavic wheels. And since the spacing is the same between the cogs the 5800 shifters and rear derailleur are OK. Am I correct or am I missing something?

My Crossride wheels had a spacer on the freehub body. Leave it on for 10sp-8 speed or Mtn 11 speed, take it off for road 11 speed.

IDK about those specific wheels, but the HG800(?) aka Ultegra level road 11-34 fits 10sp/mtn bike hubs.

IDK about the bigger 11sp mtn cassettes.
