Ray Ban Meta Smart Glasses?

Is anyone using Ray Ban Meta smart glasses as cycling glasses? I’m not a social media person, but these could be an alternative to Cycliq safety cameras, which in my experience have had quality issues with lousy customer support. It could be interesting to have the ability to shoot photos and videos from an eye-level perspective with audible, hands-free commands, and to also have open-ear audio capability to listen to music and receive calls if necessary.

I’ve always used Rudy Project with photochromatic progressive lenses on my bike. I’ve collected a few pair over the years. It’s time for new lenses. Oddly, it costs the same to purchase a new set of RP glasses with lenses as it does to purchase just lenses. I’m thinking the Metas won’t cost much more and they look interesting. I’m thinking this technology is going to find its way into a cycling-specific eyewear soon, but the Ray Bans don’t look bad and aren’t outrageously priced. Any experiences?

How's the picture quality though? and non-wrap around sunglasses are not as good for cycling.

Watch the YouTube reviews. It looks pretty decent. Maybe not as high resolution as possible with a Go Pro, but the stabilization looks pretty solid.

I agree with the glasshole part of the article.

What kind of storage does it have? Battery life? would it really work for a cycling dashboard cam? Didn't seem to be prescription friendly either. I would think light responsive lenses would be a must too for cycling. Finally, they are essentially Wayfarers which are classic in design but probably not the best cycling glasses. Sorry to be a Debbie Downer

Eh, after using cycling wrap around glasses for years, in smaller styles and even obnoxiously large style, I moved away from them during the pandemic and haven't missed em one bit.

$25 gives me Tifosi Swick sunglasses in a bunch of colors and they work perfectly for me on paved roads, grafel, and in the woods. I wear em when driving and then when riding.
They reduce glare, keep stuff out of my eyes, and don't fog up. Basically exactly what I expect glasses to do.
I've used em in countless gravel races and can confidently say the glasses weren't what kept me off the podium.

Its been over 4 years now and I have yet to come across a situation where I am like 'damn, I wish I had some oversized wraparound sunglasses right now!'.

Well that is quite impressive for what it is. If you ever decide getting them let us know how they work. I've been wanting those Cycliq cameras for a long time now but have heard too many stories as you mentioned about them.

If you're getting them for audio, they ain't as good as the Bose glasses that were discontinued, and those lacked bass unless you wear earwarmers over them.

Are they? They are definitely larger than the smaller style Swank, but I havent viewed Swicks as quite large.
