Actually, I was giving you credit for expanding that bubble you live in. I thought you might have had an epiphany of sorts. (Similar to when you embraced electronic shifting, after repeatedly stating you had no use for it — it displays an ability to change.)

It may work, but the xplr RD only needs to wrap 34T. With a 47T difference, it will have the same problem as my 36T RD - no chain tension with a bunch of the smaller sprockets, unless the chain is sized for only the 43/38 and sequential mode is used to avoid the big/big and at least 4 of the smallest sprockets.

Excellent thread - glad you're making the gearing work for your needs.

I like AXS a lot, but never loved the 13t jump and have been running 48/32 for ~3 years on my setup. With the 10-36 you can go anywhere. I rarely touch the 36 (or even the 32) but I am glad to have them on the rare occasion I need them.

Ride on, and up!

I don't like the 13T difference at the crank either, so I've never used a sram crank, only grx or campy 48/32. The sram FD works fine with a 16-17T difference.

Dave, where did you order these 44/28 TA Specialites chainrings? I was unaware of anyone offering lower than 46/30 gearing for GRX.

Edit: Oh wow.. Spécialités T.A. X110 GRX-2 10/11V + Spécialités TA X80 GRX-2 10/11V

I'm not Dave, but I've ordered 44/28 TA Specialites GRX-2 chainrings from these two European shops:

BikeInn in Spain:

I'm using the Classified Hub..with their 11-40 Cassette.. so since I have a 50t in the front my low is 34/40 and I still have a 50/11.

When I was a true 2x I have a 47/32 upfront and 11-40 XTR cassette, which was nice as well. I can always change my front 50 to a 46 or 48 and have that basically again.

I kept getting chain drops to the right if the shift was made from any of the smaller half of the sprockets. I think I got mine from bikeinn.

Anyone want them for half price, plus shipping?

How long have you been using it and how's your experience so far? A friend had his break during Rapha Prestige but was otherwise happy with it and they repaired it under warranty (I think).

Also, can you describe the rest of the rear wheel and how you had it built?

I've been planning to try Ekar but part of me thinks Classified might be a better option.

thanks

I've used the TA 48/32, 46/30 and 44/28 combination, all with Campagnolo 11spd drivetrains. I have the most experience with the 48/32 combination, and I find shifting quality is similar to OEM. I have less experience with the 44/28 combination, but I haven't had an issue with it. It should be noted that the gear size jump with a 44/28 is huge (gear size increases almost 60% when shifting up to the 44), so that's going to affect the perception of shifting feel.
