Kool stop ebike grey brake pad compound

A shout out to Kool Stop ebike gray compound. I read about them somewhere online recently, confirmed by Grant Petersen.
https://www.rivbike.com/products/bra...ol-stop-e-bike

I tried these on my wide profile Tektro CR720’s, which have been a constant issue with inadequate power for the entire time that I’ve had them (several years) despite every single known adjustment. Even the orange/salmon Matthauser compound pads were not enough to actually stop. And I couldn’t use the orange pads or even partial orange pads on the front due to unfixable squealing.

Well, I put these on the rear and they’re amazing. I can lock ‘em up with my hardest squeeze for the first time ever, no squealing. Total game changer.

I just ordered a pair for the front and will see if the magic holds there too, in terms of power without squealing.

Thanks for this, I may need to try a set. I've seen them at distributors but never had the need to purchase.

Update

Front did not squeal, stops great.
Replaced rear with narrow stance Shorty 4 and now this bike stops better than ever.

Been using these for awhile now on customers e bikes. A definite improvement over regular pads in terms of stopping power.
I havent used them on non e bikes though. I imagine the regular Kool Stops would offer a bit more modulation over the e-bike compound on non motorized bikes though.

I have not noticed any problems with modulation whatsoever, although I’ve used them on cantis and not on my regular dual pivot caliper brakes.
