Many years ago I was in the middle of a pretty hard climb in the Santa Cruz mountains and heard some very aggressive barking on the hillside above me. As I prepared to assess whether I had the legs to sprint or should turn around, I looked up at the hillside to see what the pooch looked like. Surprisingly, I saw two dogs: one barking furiously at me and the other with his jaws clamped to his buddy's collar and his legs dug in, holding him back. It's amazing what you can train a dog to do.

I had a dog chase me and it got hit and killed. It was a real bummer, even though it had bad intentions. Fortunately I didn't see it, the dog took a bad line and it was well behind me. I heard it though.

Yes.... I get it. Had one chase me last week. Fortunately for me it was a slight downhill so I was able to jam.....
