Valuation estimate on an older Serotta

Hey guys, can you look this listing and provide feedback on fair price for this Atlanta? Looking to possibly add to my stable and this is sized right. Price seems high to me.

2 sentence description and 5 bad pictures, I’d pay not more than $500. Otherwise vintage steel with 10 speed ( Campy?) in this market maybe $7-900. I don’t track Serottas much though.

That person really needs to up his marketing game before he’ll get $1100 for that bike.

Looks really nice and clean

I would say the group n wheels is worth about 400 if parted out since they seem to be in very nice condition. Frame fork maybe 350 these days even tho really nice.

Complete bike worth maybe 600 to someone but likely less.
Seller would still not be in bad shape if he got 500 from that considering the times we are in..

Looks nice but a bit pricey. If you sold off all the parts you would end up with a $650 frame. However, if you have the money and it fits then, its value is based on how much you want it. I doubt that it will sell at that price.

With the way the economy has just dropped off a cliff it's probably worth about 50% less than it was a week ago. Full disclaimer: I know less than zero about Serotta prices.

The last Atlanta I sold was in 2016; it had 10-speed Daytona on it and went for $900.

No.

Not unless there's one guy out there who had that exact size, color, and setup a decade or more ago, has a bunch of spare cash, and is feeling nostalgic.

Nice, but...not that nice.

Did I spot the 25th anniversary seat tube lug on that Atlanta? Not that it makes it worth a ton, but perhaps to the right owner that’s something special.

I'd pay what the seller is asking without hesitation. You couldn't touch any current high end steel frame and fork for that price, let alone a complete bike. And you'd hardly be at a disadvantage in performance.

The bike looks very clean, and the Dura Ace group is complete. Looks like the drivetrain was cleaned as well.

I see a Wheelsmith label on the rims-excellent quality builds.

The bike may be a "classic" but it will fit modern drivetrains, which means no obsolescence.

Shoot; it even has a steel fork.

Only thing I don't like is the American Classic seatpost. I could never get mine to hold the saddle securely.

I bought an Atlanta w/steel fork about 3 years ago for $400 on eBay which I thought was a pretty good deal. The bike came w/Chorus 8, my first 8-sp, which is good since I'm a Campagnolo guy on all my road bikes. We ended up doing the deal outside of eBay and the guy even delivered it. The bike was essentially as new, including the original Cinelli cork tape, except for a couple things. After I bought it, I discovered a small dent on a seat stay near the brake mount. Thankfully there was no scratching or flaking on the paint so it's nearly invisible. And one of the wheels had been rebuilt/replaced as it has a Wheelsmith sticker on it. Usually I strip and rebuild bikes like this. But all I did for this one was clean it, lube it and ride it. And it rides great though now it's mostly used on my home trainer.

I know, not much help on today's value but I agree w/the above post in that it's a very high quality steel frame with nice components and wheels that are all up-gradable, if desired, to modern specs. It's a bit on the heavy side compared to modern bikes due to the bottom brackets, headsets, stem, etc. But I'm ok w/that too.

Peter says he would pay full price. That's almost $1370 with tax and shipping.
I love an Atlanta. I have 1 now, just sold an Atlanta frame 2 weeks ago. I have a Colorado 3 and have owned 4 other Atlantas. It looks super clean. Most of us can tell what group it has and other details. The seller still needs to describe what a buyer is looking at. Basic s¥†t.

I'm looking at $600 + tax and shipping= $750. If the color was more exciting??
If the frame fit me I'm at $325- F/F/HS. Harsh times.

1000+ bin? market sucks, the nice about a market like this is that the guys that have some dough will get super nice stuff for more than fair numbers.
