Yep, I’m with ya. I had my first century of the year scheduled on Sunday but decided to scale it back.

Yes indeed. Am within minutes of pretty rural areas to ride. Yesterday I went in the other direction- toward town. Seeing people on the street and passing people on the bike path made me acutely aware of the reflexive impulse to evacuate my nostrils, which I was able to resist.

Still riding. Solo and trying to keep my distances to where I don't need to refill bottles.
Slightly OT, but I live within a couple of miles of the Appalachian Trail. When riding around here there are several road crossings. It has been packed lately. No way to practice social distancing on the trail. Last edited by mdeth1313; 03-17-2020 at 04:27 AM. |

Of course I'm still riding. Low traffic during spring break and now that Dallas County has basically shut down all restaurants, gyms, bars and theaters there will be even less traffic. Restaurants can do carryout or drive through only if the restaurant is set up for that.

Buddy in my building is a doctor and a cyclist. They closed our gym (not that I use it much anyway) . He said ride, ride, ride!!!
So I will....

I assume traffic around town is much calmer than normal too. May take the opportunity to explore parts of the city I don't normally ride in, I'm usually on the trails or in/around Cap Hill where I live and work.

Yup, either solo or with 1-2 other people. My wife even told me to ride more during this extended work-from-home period. And I thought she liked having me around...

still riding? absolutely...
muni pools are closed, so the lost swim time goes to cycling. traffic is slacker and weather is perfect. I'd quickly become psychotic with no physical activity...two bum knees preclude walking or running. so, even if they ban cycling, I might do some stealth rides in the 'hood. don't see solo riding as a risk to anyone. |

Rode Sunday, first opportunity afforded by the weather (still got drenched by a brief squall). Riding buddy got three (count 'em, 3) flats so lots of ride time consumed by patching and swapping.
Group ride scheduled for Saturday up in Solvang, waiting to see how many of the 18 people signed up bow out before deciding. But if it looks like fewer than 10 I'm most likely going to go. Organizer said "social pace" so I may just go hard in order to keep my distance. |

I’ll ride until the authorities say I can’t. Sure hope it doesn’t come to that though. Then, being stuck inside all day will drive me around the bend...assuming that kind of drive is approved!

Social distancing....

The 700 member Bicycle Club I have been a member of since 1973 (The Florida Freewheelers)......just cancelled all Club rides until further notice. And we have at least one ride every day somewhere, and several each Saturday and Sunday. In case of an accident, don't want any rider to use up any precious medical resources that could be used by a virus patient. I haven't decided if I wish to ride solo....which I think is much safer...especially if I stay on almost deserted trails.

That is the reason cycling is banned in Italy. Using medical resources for accidents of leisure activity is not a good look.
I'm torn whether to go ride outdoors. I see a lot of people on strava locally...maybe it's ok until hospitals really get hit hard? Don't know... |

I don't know. Have you ever been in a crash that put you in the hospital? I mean, c'mon.
