Nothing. It's a protective cover that envelopes a small part (a bolt or similar on a derailleur or caliper brake) during packaging and transport.

Covers up the RD mounting bolt. Handy for when you ship a bike with derailleur removed. Not as snug, but I also use to cover shifter bosses on bare frames. There are also smaller ones I believe to cover brake mounting bolts.

It goes on the bottom of the uber-rare Campy Carbon kickstand, to prevent marring the asphalt or concrete where it is parked.
