Buying bike parts on Etsy

Is this advisable?

A good deal on the parts I’m looking for came up in a Google search. Wondering if it has the same protections as eBay for example. I assume if I use PayPal I’m covered?

I think sellers might be getting creative to avoid the $600 tax filing threshold.

There are actually a lot of parts on Etsy it seems. The guy I bought shifters from is selling excellent condition Dura Ace 7800 parts for good prices. I almost bought the crankset but I already got a 7700 crankset that I like better.

I haven't shopped Etsy for bike parts, but a lot of folks moved over there when eBay started jacking their listing prices and generally making it harder for small sellers.

AFAIK, Etsy will issue a 1099-k just like eBay if you have sales >$2000/200 transactions...

I love/hate this thread. Now it looks like I have somewhere else to kill time looking for parts I might need in the future!
