Ritchey 50th Anniversary Road Logic
A half-hearted attempt at a 50th anniversary? Nice classic paint scheme, love the decals, but why not go one step further and just build a steel fork? The Road Logics (IMO), have always looked off due to the carbon fork.
I know they did offer the heritage paint schemes with the Commando, sunset fade, and classic red, white and blue some time back on the Road Logic, but thought its a missed opportunity since it's the 50th anniversary. Really adore the 40th anniversary brazed Classic, so I was sort of excited when I saw a sneak peek on Instagram. Kinda missing my old Road Logic with the 1-inch threadless fork now... https://us.ritcheylogic.com/us_en/ro...rsary-frameset

Gotta say that I have immense trust in TR’s ability to put a bike together. I’ve had bikes with steel forks that have been dogs (looking at you, All City Mr Pink) and some where the fork has been amazing (the Hampsten I just sold had an amazing Tweedy fork). If Tom Ritchey says that carbon fork is the right fork for that bike to move the way he wants it, I’d be loath to 2nd guess him.
Every Ritchey I’ve ridden has been just a great bike. (Disclaimer - currently building up a new Road Logic Disc instead of getting a custom road bike made because the geo pretty much perfectly matches my Firefly.) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yeah agree price point is good, and that Ritchey makes good bikes. Sure.
But I keep going back to this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-gGIqfVB2Y&t=2376s) 30min 30s onwards. He talks about a steel fork vs carbon fork. A bit ironic. Unless i am missing something from the video haha. That being said, not really criticizing the new release. I am sure it's still a great value bike. I do like what Ritchey stands for.

No surprise seeing a carbon fork giving the challenges getting steel forks made in a production capacity the past year. Couldn't get blades, then couldn't get crowns or steerers. Now the lead times are long if you don't want to pay-to-play or have enough quantity to move the line. A nice lugged steel rim brake fork? Real headache.

Yeah a good riding one might fail the stress tests a cf fork will breeze through so they're rare on modern production bici

I’ve yet to ride a steel fork that outperforms a carbon fork in anything but aesthetics…especially on a steel frame like that Ritchey. Pass

This looks like a bike just begging for a mechanical group.

I would be buying a 59 immediately if I had room for it. 105, h-son plus/white industries wheels, vittoria tires, ritchey cockpit. Maybe some of those blingy eebrakes if I could find them used.
Edit: Tom has discussed at length why they don't spec steel forks on these bikes. Last edited by EB; 05-10-2022 at 01:12 PM. |

I dunno, I think it looks pretty slick. If only I could justify it...

I've seen this frame up close, it is a gorgeous paint job.

I like it (though Skyline Blue is my favorite color) and was waiting for it since I saw the pics from Sea Otter, but ended up finding a frameset locally for the disc version in black. Rides as smooth as people say!

Largest size is 609mm stack and 410mm reach.
I will continue to hope for a day when a brand started by a guy who had a mentor that stood 6'6 is willing to spec a bike for cyclists on the taller side of life. |
