If your Waterford lust exceeds your Waterford budget just remember that Waterford builds Gunnars in the same facility using mostly the same steel and the same staff. They are TIG welded with no option for lugs and the paint is not as fancy but the ride should be similar. I think you can pay extra to get a custom Gunnar and/or Waterford level paint but a stock Gunnar in one of the currently available colors has to a be the bargain in the line. Heck, that might be the bargain in ANYONE'S line.

A Gunnar is a great frame. Lugs mean nothing to me....so I would go Gunnar....if a stock size would work. I had plenty of beautiful lug frames in the 70's, and those P13 Paramounts I had with chrome lugs were sure beautiful (I thought), but tig welding w/b fine now with me. The posters custom Waterford is a beautiful bike, and sounds like it will serve him well.

These Gunnars do look like an option. Hoping this price list is up to-date.

I do find lugs aesthetically desirable but I don’t have a lugged frame to say whether or not I would like the ride.

Lugged or Tigged assembly doesn't affect the ride if all else is the same.

I like the Gunnar Sport for comfortable riding. Believe it can take tires to 32's. And fenders (at least with 28's), etc. Stock size looks OK for me.

Good to know.

Do love the look of those lugs on the OPs bike.
The geo is admittedly function over form, but the lugs make it classic!

Thanks for all the kind words about my bike! Indy, I took a picture of the geo sheet for my frame. I also attached another picture of my bike from a different viewpoint. I agree with the comments about Gunnar frames. Excellent frames at a great price.

Local buddy just ordered a new Gunnar to replace a carbon Trek all surfaces bike. As selling points he mentioned threaded BB shell and conventional seatpost and dropouts.

Thanks for sharing the geo. Much appreciated!

Yup. Will likely be looking at Gunnar when I draw one like this up for myself.

It's great that you can still get an honest steel bike same-as-it-ever-was in custom, semi custom, and off the rack versions. That build sheet looks just like the one for my 2010 Crosshairs-same layout, font, graphic. Reminds me I need a repaint.

I have an ST-22 with beautiful lugs and stainless head tube and chain stays that I bought used here on The Paceline a few years back.

One of my favorite bikes.

Hi Chicago,
Scored myself a High-Stack Low-Reach Waterford frame off of eBay.
It is a custom RS-14, not as elegant as your lugged beauty. But it will help me validate if such a geo is right for me.
I will post some pics when I put it together.

I've had two Waterfords, one was a Reynolds 753 beauty that rode incredibly nice but it was too big for me. I still kept it for like a year and I used it for short rides, no more than 20 miles where I could still tolerate the poor fit. One specially beautiful Sunday I started riding it, I got excited and I kept going and going... 70 miles later I got home with a crushing neck pain. So I sold it to avoid such temptations in the future. The other one was a no-frills RS-22 that I absolutely loved, I rode it for years until last spring some douchebag stole it from the basement of my building in Boston. I got three more bikes stolen that day, all great, and the Waterford was the least blingy and the one I miss the most. Yours looks purposeful and fun, ride it in good health.

Here's a few pics...cant wait til the roads are clear of 2" of slush/ice/sand/salt to get this bike back out in the real world again.
