7970 di2 battery mounts- long vs short?

Just got a 7970 group from a fine gentleman here, the battery that came with it is not oem and was installed inside the frame.

I'd like to use a "normal" mount+BTR1 battery, bolted under the NDS chainstay. (frame has the correct mounts)



I figure I can just cut the battery mount from an external wiring kit ($10-$15) and splice it to my internal harness. But these kits have battery mounts meant for mounting between the bottle cage and the frame.



Can I bolt this long mount under the chainstay, and just chop off the excess?
