Ot: Ot

Been discussed before, but there are so few Forum's here (https://forums.thepaceline.net/index.php), why is there an aversion for an OT Forum (call it Coffee House, General Chit-Chat, whatever) and renaming General Discussion to General Cycling Discussion.

I like the OT posts and read many of them, so its not that I don't like OT posts in a cycling forum, its just seems to me that it would make more sense to have them in a separate forum.

.

I enjoy the OT threads. But i dont think i would visit a seperate forum frequently to read them, well i might. I however like the way it is now tbh.

I am perhaps looking for a conversation on the lastest campy discbrakes but find myself reading lots of other stuff. It brightens my day.

I could likely use even more time away from bike topics hahah

As a moderator, I'm always against splitting things up. It is a pain to jump in and out of forums to check threads.

As a participant, I like it even less. I have recently have been lurking on a touring forum that splits everything up and if I want to check for anything new it seems like a major effort. It is an unpleasant experience.

I prefer to just scroll down quickly and see what is new and what I need to read. It is easy to see a title that doesn't appeal to me and just skip it.

It's been, what, six months since someone brought this up? We were due. Time is a flat circle, etc etc.

The real question here is whether or not you keep the nuts on your presta valves.

Must be why the OP said "Been discussed before…"

My 2 cents

I usually don't mind but I get aggravated at times when something starts being civil and it turns into a pissing contest. Seems to happen more lately, maybe it's just the lack of outside time but people seem more hostile.

I like browsing a forum where most if not all the content is in the same place. I'm more likely to click and interact to a variety of topics than if I had to visit them separately in sub forums.

FWIW, I have thePaceline 'pinned' in my browser, so if there were a separate "Coffee House", I would just pin that as well, so 2 forums wouldn't bother me (all in one doesn't either, I was just curious what others thought — and I know this has been discussed before, but I don't recall if there was ever a poll quantifying what you guys preferred)

I like it this way, especially when a poster identifies the OT topic in the subject line so I can click on ones of interest and not waste time on subjects of no interest to me.

You and me both. I rarely remember to check the other forums...
